Rising 6th-8th Graders: This course is designed to accomplish the following goals: 

• Building Fluency, Increasing Comprehension

• Improving Writing and Vocabulary

• Tackling Textbooks and other Nonfiction Texts

• Reducing Frustration, Increasing Confidence

• Increasing Stamina

• Developing a Love of Reading

Middle School is terrifying. But, when you add in the massive leap a student has to make from 5th grade to 6th, it can be beyond overwhelming. In fact, it is often the moment when parents see their high-performing middle schooler become an unmotivated and struggling student they almost do not recognize. I have seen this more times than I can count during my career in education. Building on a wide range of experiences and interactions with thousands of students, I have designed this course to land your student in the bliss of self-assurance with a renewed (or maybe newly born) passion for learning. Every subject and content area in school requires a student to read and write, so believe me when I say that getting over the literacy hurdle makes all the ones after it on the course so much easier to hop right over! 

**2026 UPDATE: This summer, we are trying something new that we believe will be in the best interest of students. We have decided to offer Boys Only and Girls Only Sessions. Research shows that co-ed education is beneficial, which is why public schools operate in that manner. However, there is a good deal of research that supports the idea that same-gender groups may help reduce distractions and cater to specific, often different, developmental rates and learning styles. This is especially true for the middle school age group. Careful attention will be paid to the outcomes of this year's sessions and future offerings will be based on the level of impact this decision makes.
